A home can have asphalt shingles on the main roof and a different system over a porch, addition or garage. A roof rejuvenation quote should identify those materials separately. A product proposed for eligible asphalt shingles should not be assumed suitable for tile, metal or a low-slope roofing system.
Make a roof-section map
Start with a ground-level photograph or an existing roof sketch. Label the main house, attached garage, porch and additions. Write down the material only where you know it; mark the rest for the assessor to identify. Homeowners do not need to climb onto the roof or guess a membrane brand to request an assessment.
| Section | Material | Proposed work | Scope question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main house | Confirm on assessment | Evaluate existing shingles | Which slopes qualify, if any? |
| Porch or addition | Confirm separately | Separate recommendation | Is this a different roof system? |
| Attached garage | Confirm separately | Include or exclude explicitly | Was its area included in the price? |
| Junction between sections | Identify components | Inspect relevant details | Who addresses a defect at this transition? |
A whole-property visit is not a whole-roof treatment
Ask which sections were inspected and which were inaccessible. Then ask where the exact treatment product would be applied. If a proposal excludes a low-slope rear addition, that exclusion should appear in both the scope and the area measurement. A large total roof area is not helpful if you cannot tell which parts the price covers.
Separate roof systems may also have different installation dates and repair histories. Replacing a porch roof last year does not establish the age or condition of the main shingle roof. Keep the records by section so a recommendation for one surface is not mistakenly applied to the others.
Ask about transitions and existing concerns
Tell the assessor about water marks near an addition or at the line between two roof materials. Request a diagnosis rather than assuming the visible surface needs a spray. Ask whether another roofing specialist should assess a section or junction, and who will coordinate any repair before treatment is considered.
Our restoration guide explains why treatment and repairs have different roles. Use it alongside the roof-section map when requesting a written recommendation.
Keep each product and warranty matched to its section
- Name the proposed treatment and the roof areas where it would be used.
- Check the applicable shingle manufacturer’s guidance before field treatment.
- Keep warranties for other roof materials separate.
- Record exclusions and any referral or repair prerequisite in writing.
The goal is a clear plan for the actual roof systems on your property. You can request that plan without deciding in advance that every section needs rejuvenation or that every material can receive the same product.
Frequently asked questions
Can asphalt shingle rejuvenation be used on tile or metal?
Do not assume that a product for asphalt shingles is appropriate for another material. Identify each roof system and obtain a recommendation specific to that material and product.
Can only part of my roof be evaluated for treatment?
Ask the assessor to identify the proposed sections, inspection limits and exclusions. A partial scope must still be appropriate for the roof and clear about what remains outside the work.
Share your address and the concerns you want assessed. Ask Shingle Hero for the findings, any prerequisites and a written scope for your roof.
